Software requirements

The software can run either on a PC or on an Apple Mac. The design is based around a monitor size of 1024x768 and although it is possible run on smaller screens this size is recommended to avoid large amounts of scrolling.

We ask all but the smallest customers to consider using a server for SkillMatch as performance is much reduced and more frequent backups are possible. If server hardware/software cost is an issue currently we find the cheapest option is to install a Mac OSX system and we are happy to advise on a suitable machine and to set this up for you. Once set up the system will run for extended periods without any need for user intervention so knowledge of OSX is not required for you to consider this option.

It can run as a one-user application or share data between users. Systems using more than one computer require a network

For two-user systems other protocols are possible but Molesoft recommends TCP/IP (the standard internet protocol). If you already have a network the chances are you are already running TCP/IP.

For systems of up to six users the system does not require a dedicated server.

A 10 MHz Ethernet network is satisfactory for all systems but where images of properties are stored in the system 100MHz or higher will produce significant speed improvements.
